#8 - greasy just greasy

making this one short because i have zero respect for this human after he treated me like his potential meat sex puppet for SIX MONTHS while working with him.

started with going out with other crew for drinks after work. realized shortly after arriving i was like the only cdn crew member that had been invited, it was all US crew and the foreign crew. i remember finding that weird.

i drank a fair amount that night - probably around 4-5 pints. i wasn't falling down drunk, and we were there for several hours. (for the public record: i don't drink much these days - i currently only drink at special events eg - christmas holidays, weddings, TIFF. this is well known by my friends & family. i don't even drink the free drinks on Porter flights since i puked on a flight in 2015 from one glass of red wine. i now don't drink red wine or beer at all.)

but this night i could drink as many irish pints as i wanted (for free) with the irish director & co, and the director was very intoxicated that evening. he was nice to me and explained to me how he has a bad anxiety disorder and how he has a hard time talking to anyone in the office, and how booze helped. i felt bad for him. he is a nice man who is very troubled.

he wasn't my worry at the moment. (though i witnessed him being not cool to many, many, many other people at other points on the show. he was always nice to me, but not creepy nice. just loud, brash and hilarious/shocking in the office occasionally. showing off.)

it was the VFX supervisor, this night at the bar, early in preproduction. he was there with his girlfriend, who had flown up to visit him for the wkend, from the US, i think LA. at least, I THOUGHT she was his serious long time girl friend, but, i think that she may of been a current fling for him, so maybe more serious for her, less serious for him. IDK. they were both so drunk and nuts that night.

repeatedly asking me to have a 3some with them. i left the bar because i was uncomfortable. i went home via cab.

so at work on the monday after this night, he brings me a card, from her, with a tim's card in it (i fucking used it. no shame) but, she was all lovey to me in the card, i cannot remember exactly what it said and i'm pretty sure i shredded it in the office. it was a love note. like hope to see you soon. hope i didn't offend you i was so drunk. here's a tim's card (everyone likes tim's in CANADA). XOXO.

ridic.

flash fwd a few months. greasy mcvfx supervisor occasionally lears at me, tries to flirt with me, calls me on the wkend at 0900 one saturday morning, still drunk and asking me to come party with him and the stunt coordinator (LA dude who i actually didn't mind. he had him call me to ask to party with them. i knew they were going out the night before, so, i made sure to ask if they had slept yet. they were clearly quite high at the time, so i told them both to go to bed and i went about my day like a normal person).

this culminates on the last day of production 51 of 51, or we may have been 52 of 51 bc we lost a few shooting days bc the director called in sick to work. only time that has happened in my career.

so last day. greasy mcvfx supervisor waits until we are alone in the office and everyone else is on set. like, my assistant leaves, and he calls me instantly. it's like he heard the door close upstairs and was like: SHOW TIME.

"why don't you come upstairs and fuck me on (PRODUCER I RESPECT)'s desk? we're all alone, and you know you want too. it would be so hot."

or something just as greasy. he called me multiple times so i could be ad-libbing the calls into one hyper perv morph, but, you get my gist. i kept hanging up. i told him i was busy. he told me i shouldn't be, i had nothing to do, it was the last day (i'd usually be working on the call sheet for the next day over the phone with the 2nd AD at this point in the night). i kept telling him to fuck off and leave me alone. he either stopped calling or my production assistant came back to the office. i most definitely told her what happened, but, i haven't followed up with her to see what she remembers. she saw some shit on that show. as did i.

i'm still friends with a lot of the people from this production, and i had a long talk with 20th Century Fox HR about Everett Burell and how many times he humiliated, demeaned me, and made me feel like absolute garbage, at the time. i counted the days after this "fuck me upstairs" incident and just waited out my few days left on the show (i think a week or so - which is soon after putting up with so much shit for 6mths.)

why didn't i report it to anyone, in 2008? he was buddies with the unstoppable director and pretty big time in the industry. i was happy he didn't touch me. no one reported on Tier A productions. we were trained to ignore this stuff. my union (at the time), IATSE 411, had a collection of Tier A bullies that would squash shit like this as "complaining too much".

i would of been perceived as difficult. i already was perceived as difficult by the union bc i was witnessing bullying IN THE UNION all the time and nothing was being done.

the next email i'm working on. IATSE.

so much for this being a short post.
